The 950 adventure and the 990 adventure wanted somehow to be the “replicas” of the dakar models, leaving the customers with some impressive experiences in terms of maneuverability and torque, but quite some challenges in regards to fuel consumptions and reliability. In this sense KTM got its bad reputation of not being “the best” bike 5. Going off-road has its limitations, as this is the most street-oriented KTM Adventure. The KTM 1290 Super Adventure R and, particularly, the 1090 Adventure R are the true ADV bikes in the line.
The biggest difference between the bikes on the spec sheet is the ground clearance. The Orange bike has 8.6 inches to the 6.6 of the Ducati. The suspension travel is the second biggest difference but still only about an inch apart, with the KTM at 7.9/7.9 inches and the Ducati with 6.7/6.7 inches. 26. Location: Southeast New Hampshire. I have almost 13,000 miles on my 2014 with no issues that weren’t self inflicted. In my opinion the KTM 1190 Adventure R is a great bike on and off road. As with any bike, modifications based on your riding style and region make it a better bike. (Me: 6ft, 200lbs)
